PSE&G Gas Project Delayed By Nor’easter: See Updated Road Closures

SUMMIT, NJ - Severe weather in the Garden State earlier this week has delayed work on a PSE&G gas replacement project in Summit initially slated for Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
The PSE&G work to replace gas pipes throughout Summit scheduled to take place earlier in the week is expected to resume on Wednesday, March 15, city officials told Patch.
The following roads are set to undergo gas replacement work this week:

- Springfield Avenue between Essex Road and Waldron Avenue
- Springfield Avenue between Edgewood Road and Waldron Avenue
- Woodland Avenue between Beverly Road and Karen Way
- Morris Avenue between Norwood Avenue and Kent Place Boulevard
- Highland Drive between Rotary Drive and Rotary Drive
- Canoe Brook Parkway between Iris Road and Rose Lane
- Little Wolf Road between Drum Hill Drive and Tanglewood Drive
- Summit Avenue near intersections of Morris Turnpike, Whittredge Road, and Springfield Avenue
Summit police will be on site to direct traffic, city officials said. Work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting.
The gas pipe replacement work to replace aging mains is expected to be completed by early summer 2023 depending on project progress over the winter, city officials previously said. The work started in January 2022 to replace cast iron pipes with new, durable plastic and/or coated steel piping.
