"One of the most widely produced plays in colleges and high school, 'She Kills Monsters' explores themes of grief and loss, bullying, friendship, female empowerment, and acceptance of others who are often marginalized," Summit Public Schools wrote.

The play follows the story of Agnes Evans, a high school senior, who loses her younger sister, Tilly, and her parents in a car accident. Having a distant relationship with her sister while she was alive, Agnes discovers a "Dungeons and Dragons" notebook in Tilly's room and embarks on a journey to connect with her sister.

Agnes eventually finds herself "catapulted into an imaginary and mystic world that was her sister's comfort place," according to the show's description.

Written by Qui Nguyen, the dramatic comedy is filled with creatures, sword fights and pop culture references. The play made its first off-off-Broadway debut at The Flea Theater in New York City on Nov. 4, 2011.

Tickets for the high school's production will be available at https://www.showtix4u.com/events/hilltopper on Monday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. and are $15 for adults and $13 for students and seniors.
