Stay Safe At Home With Help From The Summit Police

Free residence assessments are available.

SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Police Department is reaching out to residents to remind everyone of ways to keep homes safe in the wake of recent burglaries and attempted thefts around the county.

"These trends often move from town to town," Chief Ryan Peters said, "and I want our residents to be prepared."

Police ask that whenever possible, to park vehicles in garages. All valuables and key fobs should always be out of plain view in your car, as well as your house.

All car and home doors should stay locked, and outdoor lighting should be turned on overnight.

Anything suspicious caught or heard by a resident or home security camera should be reported immediately to Summit Police at 908-273-0051.

Summit Police are also offering a free residence security assessment to review your property and help make it less prone to crime.
