Stuke Named to Division I Academic Squad

The Georgetown University field hockey standout is the only freshman from the Hoyas team to make the list.

Katie Stuke, last year's #6 and a middie/defense player on the Summit High School field hockey team was the only Georgetown University freshman named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad. The awards were announced yesterday, according to the Hoyas website.

Stuke's accomplishment makes her one of the premiere scholar-athletes in Division I field hockey. The Hoyas article goes on to point out where the team ranks nationwide:

Georgetown was one of 65 teams to earn the 2011 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. Teams must earn a GPA of 3.0 or better in the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year to be recognized. The Georgetown field hockey team maintained a 3.44 GPA, ranking just outside the top 5 in the nation.
