Summit High School Debate Team Takes On Harvard Competition
The speech and debate team emerged successful with three semi-finalists and one finalist, among other designations.
SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit High School speech and debate team emerged successful last weekend with three semi-finalists and one finalist, among other designations, district officials said.
Among 4,000 competitors representing 400 schools and 34 states at the Harvard Invitational Tournament, Summit High School’s team advanced to 19 elimination rounds with five octo-finalists, three semi-finalists and one finalist.
Notable successes include Ally Lipschitz, Matt Lameo, Eli Markowitz, Abby Rosen's double octos; Matt Hecker’s semi-finalist and Molly Duff’s fourth place designation for original orator, and Scarlet Ashcroft Mae Bale Dyer’s octo and Ella Szabados’ quarter-finalist designation for dramatic interpretation.
