Summit Man, 83, in Critical Condition After Being Hit Crossing Street
Ben Jacoby was rushed to Morristown Medical Center trauma center this morning after an accident along Summit Avenue around 6:30a.m.

An 83-year-old Summit man is in critical condition at Morristown Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle early this morning while he was crossing Summit Avenue near Springfield Avenue, according to police.
The accident occured at 6:30 a.m. According to Summit residents who emailedin to Patch, Summit Avenue was closed from Broad Street to DeForest Avenue, while police investigated the scene.
According to a police statement, Donna Ilaria, 51, of Toms Rivers was driving north on Summit Avenue when Jacoby was struck. No charges have been filed and the incident remains under investigation.

Summit Police Lt. John Dougherty said Jacoby was rushed to Morristown Medical Center to receive treatment in the hospital's trauma unit.
