Summit Native Known For His Quick Wit, Comedy Dies At Age 75
A Memorial Service for Robert Lockett will be held at Lawson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 243 Broadway, Long Branch on Saturday.

SUMMIT, NJ — Robert Lockett, age 75, of Holmdel, NJ formerly of Wilson NC by way of Summit, NJ, transitioned on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Hackensack Memorial Hospital – Bayshore. He was born to the late Robert and Mamie Lockett on September 26, 1946 in New Bern, NC.
Known to his friends as Bobby, he attended Summit High School in Summit, NJ and Ricker College in Houlton, Maine and later attended Howard University in Washington DC for additional study.
As a Social Worker, he worked at various institutions in the DC area before moving to North Carolina. Bobby also worked at the National Institute of Health in Durham, NC for a number of years before retiring.

Bobby was known for his quick wit and comedy. He enjoyed a good book and all history associated to the Tuskegee Airmen. Bob also loved watching all sports and movies.
Bobby is predeceased by his father, Robert Lockett, Sr., his mother, Mamie Moore Lockett and sister Carolyn Lockett. He is survived by sisters, Josephine Lockett of Middletown, NJ, and Doris Lockett of Morristown, and his beloved daughter, Dr. Nedra Lee of Dorchester, MA. He also leaves a host of friends, relatives and cousins around the country.

A Memorial Service for Robert will be held at Lawson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 243 Broadway, Long Branch, NJ on Saturday, October 30 th at 12pm. Condolences can be made online at LawsonFuneralService.com.
