The Summit Playhouse To Present 'Spring Awakening' July 22

The musical follows the story of a group of German teenagers as they navigate self-discovery and coming-of-age anxiety.

SUMMIT, NJ — The newest production set to kick off at The Summit Playhouse is "Spring Awakening" — a story that explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood.

Directed and choreographed by Matthew Green, "Spring Awakening" opens July 22 and continues through July 31.

The winner of eight Tony, including Best Musical — told by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater — "Spring Awakening" is a musical set in late 19th-century Germany and tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of adolescent sexuality, as well as coming-of-age anxiety.

The musical known is for its alternative rock-infused score. Kyle Cao is in charge of musical direction for the Summit production.

The original Broadway production included cast members like Jonathan Groff of "Hamilton," Lea Michele of "Glee," John Gallagher Jr. of "American Idiot" and more.

Summit Playhouse warns those interested in attending the play that "Spring Awakening" contains sexual situations, explicit language and scenes of violence. It is recommended for audience members ages 15 and older.

Tickets are available at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?ticketing=sum.

All attendees are required to wear a mask while inside the building 10 New England Ave.

The Playhouse is also holding a school supply drive for families in need at all performances and people are encouraged to donate.

The Blue Wind Cast performs July 22 @ 7:30pm, July 24 @ 2:00pm, and July 30 @ 2:00pm and 7:30pm. Cast members include:
