Summit Resident Honored for Volunteering

Over the past 20 years, Regina Daly has been a partner to five St. Vincent's Academy students by providing tuition assistance and mentoring.

The following was submitted by the Student/Partner Alliance:

Summit resident Regina Daly was honored at St. Vincent Academy in Newark’s 28th Annual “Friends in Concert” event on Thursday, October 17th, for her “commitment to the education of the next generation of women at St. Vincent’s.  She accomplished this through her involvement in the local, non-profit organization, Student/Partner Alliance.”

Over the past twenty years, Regina has been a “partner” to five St. Vincent’s students, providing both tuition assistance and highly motivated mentoring to the girls throughout each girl’s high school tenure. All of Regina’s partnered students have continued on to successful college experiences.

Jennifer Zumba, currently in her junior year at SVA also plans on attending college after high school.  Jennifer depends upon the support and motivation she receives from Mrs. Daly.  

“I am encouraged to study hard and reach for the stars. I won’t let them down,” stated Jennifer.

Three of Regina’s mentees were present for the event on Thursday. LaShawn Adams, currently a junior at Rutgers, New Brunswick remarked that, “After all she has done, and continues to do for me, I wouldn’t miss seeing Mrs. Daly get this award! She has been such a support to me and I wanted to thank her again by being here tonight.”
