Summit Teen Combines Passions to Showcase Art

A Summit student has brought the world of art online with a slick new gallery called "Creation's Playground," according to a news release from the .

High School senior Rita Sipe used skills she picked up in a course entitled Computer Graphics III, which is offered by the high school. The website, which is accessible here, features paintings, drawings, computer graphics, film, ceramics and photography. All the works have been created in the high school's diverse array of art classes.

Digital art created with the program Adobe Illustrator is featured. The project from teacher Kevin Schauer's class by student Andrew Rupkey shows a match that burns with a pixelated glow.

The website also showcases works up for auction. Three photographs from teacher Don Standing's class will be auctioned to benefit the . The photos include "Reflections" by Shea Paytas, "Banjos", by Maggie Lees, and "Businessman" by Grace Berkery.

Rounding out the artistic works on the "Creation's Playground" is a powerful short film by Allan Gurrero that looks at the effects of drought and water conservation.

Sipe has said she plans to add more works to the site on a monthly basis until June, when she's expected to graduate. While there's no word yet on who will take over the online gallery it's clear the project has accurately captured the twin interests, Sipe—who also has her sculptures on the sire— plans to pursue beyond high school: art and computer graphics.
