Summit Tractor Trailer Fire Update: No Injuries

The fire occurred on Route 78 Friday morning around 1 a.m., according to a Summit spokesperson.

SUMMIT, NJ — A fire in a tractor trailer truck on Route 78 was reported at approximately 1 a.m. on Friday.

Summit Fire Department arrived at the scene on Route 78 eastbound near Glenside Avenue. According to the City of Summit, the fire was contained to the box of the truck and did not spread to the cab in the front.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

The Berkeley Heights, Springfield, and Linden fire departments also arrived at the scene, as well as Summit Police and New Jersey State Police.

1 right lane was still closed as of 6 a.m., NJDOT said.
