Wrestlers Defeat Columbia 39 - 36
Heavyweight Conner O'Malley's pin helps clinch win for Hilltoppers.
Although the Summit wrestling squad lost to Arthur L. Johnson (Clark) High School 36-33 on Friday, they gained a win during a home match on Saturday afternoon. Coach Eric Wachtel said the weekend match was won after heavy weight Conner O'Malley won his match by pinning his Columbia High School opponent.
The Hilltopper wrestling squad is now 1-1 in only its second year as a varsity team.
There were also outstanding matches Saturday by Elijah Akudugu (120), who lost a very close bout to a state-ranked wrestler, and freshman Brian Peck (106) who had his first varsity win.
