In addition to the array of food that will be offered for sampling, a
raffle to benefit the Friends of the Firetruck will be featured. The
collaboration formed last year between the historical society and the
Summit Fire Department has as its goal the preservation and display of
the city’s 1927 Chemical Engine No. 1. Plans call for it to be housed
on the ground’s of the society’s Carter House at 90 Butler Parkway,
which was constructed in 1741 and is believed to be Summit’s oldest
remaining building.

Today Carter House is a local history museum and home to archives that include photos, newspapers, maps, postcards and city directories that date back more than 100 years. All materials are available to the public free of charge.
Among the Friends of the Firetruck raffle prizes are a stay at the
DeBary Inn, dinner at the Hat Tavern, jewelry and a gift certificate
from Creative Wallcoverings.
