Where Are the Worst Potholes in Summit?
Patch readers named a number of streets around Summit that are dotted with potholes. Do you agree?

Although the weather is warming up, winter is still reeking havoc on Summit in a way many would not expect: Potholes.
Potholes develop after water from snow and rain seeps into small cracks in the roadway surface, according to state highway officials. As temperatures drop, the water freezes and expands, making the cracks larger, eventually forming potholes. Heavy traffic, pavement age, vehicle weights, and snow and ice operations contribute to the problem.
After the seemingly never-ending winter, Patch asked readers to tell us where the worst potholes are in Summit. Here is a sample of some of the comments from Summit Patch readers:

- “ The stretch on Morris Ave from Maple Ave to Glenside Ave is horrible! Always had been but this winter has made it worse. The NJ transit bridge on Morris Ave to Kent Place Blvd is awful but i know that will be replaced over next 18 mos.”
- “Passaic Road off Soringfield all the way to Kent place Blvd is nothing less than unacceptable. As a taxpayer in Summit I find it unbelievable that this road has not been replaced for years. We have blown Four tires on this road and now after this brutal winter it is worse than ever. What are or politicians doing ? Do you all drive around blind? Also the bridge (train passes under) up from the police station towards Kent place blvd is horrible. Having a high schooler it is a road I use quite often and have no choice in road traveled. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
