2 Left Without Home After Fire Breaks Out In Teaneck: Officials
Residents were forced out of their wood-framed Teaneck home after a fire "flashed over" a front bedroom, police and fire officials said.
TEANECK, NJ — A single-family Teaneck home was rendered unlivable after a fire Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The cause of the 3:01 p.m. fire inside the wood-framed home at 660 Lucy Avenue was ruled accidental and undetermined, township fire Chief Joseph Berchtold said.
Although the flames were confined to one bedroom on the ground floor, police and fire officials said that the home is not habitable until repairs are made.

Crews overhauled to check for fire extension after extinguishing the flames that had "flashed over" the area, and then ventilated it for smoke, Berchtold said.
Ambulance workers evaluated the two occupants, who were home at the time of the fire, and determined they did not need medical attention. The home was turned back over to the occupants once the structure was deemed safe, police Chief Andrew McGurr said.
