A long-abandoned gas station at Teaneck Road and Fort Lee Road could be transformed into a 24 apartment complex if a developer is able to <a href="http://www.northjersey.com/news/218947631_Old_gas_station_site_in_Teaneck_eyed_for_housing_eyed_for_housing.html?page=all" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">have a deed restriction on the property removed</a>, according to a published report. The township has opted to back the developer's bid to have a Superior Court judge lift the restriction at 227 Teaneck Road, which mandates the site can only be used for a gas station, NorthJersey.com reported. If the restriction is lifted, the developer would still need approval through Teaneck's land use boards. Teaneck would also have to modify its zoning ordinance and master plan. Among the proposed complex are five apartments slated for affordable housing, the report said. The plan also includes a three-story above-ground parking area. The gas station property has fallen into disrepair and a previous effort to build a 7-Eleven at the site was met with widespread opposition from area residents.
