Driver Dies Days After Bergen County Crash: Police

A 78-year-old driver has died days after a crash at a traffic light in Bergen County, police said.

TENAFLY, NJ — A man has died days after being injured in a two-car crash in Tenafly, police said.

Police said that just before 9 p.m. last Wednesday, a 78-year-old man from Creskill was driving south on Jefferson Avenue. The driver in front of him, a 40-year-old man from Englewood, stopped for a red light at the intersection with Riveredge Road.

When he stopped, the Creskill man crashed into the rear of his car, police said.

The Creskill man had serious injuries and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. He died over the weekend, police said.

The Englewood man had minor injuries and refused medical attention, police said.

"We are continuing to investigate the circumstances and any potential cause of this crash," said police on Wednesday.

They did not release the name of the victim.
