Man And Woman Attack Uber Driver In Bergen County: Police
A man was arrested and a woman is still at large following an attack on a rideshare driver in Teaneck, police said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — After a man and woman attacked a rideshare driver in Teaneck last month, a man is under arrest but the woman remains at large, police said.
Malik Bell, 51, of Englewood was charged with aggravated assault and other offenses, said Teaneck Police Chief Andrew McGurr.
According to police, on Aug. 18, around 11:30 a.m., a rideshare driver called 911 to say he was assaulted by a woman and man near the intersection of Teaneck Road and West Englewood Avenue.

The woman had just ridden in his car, having been picked up in Paramus, police said.
During the trip to Teaneck, the woman became agitated, police said.

After she got out of the car in Teaneck, police said, Bell, who knew the woman, headed to the car, opened the door, and struck the driver in the face multiple times.
Then, Bell took the driver's phone, threw it to the ground, and ordered the driver not to call police.
The woman then spat in the driver's face, police said.
Both ran southbound on Teaneck Road, police said.
The driver was taken to Holy Name Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, police said.
Bell was charged with aggravated assault, burglary, hindering apprehension, and criminal mischief.
He was found and arrested on Aug. 28, Teaneck police said.
He was taken to the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center.
Detectives are still working to identify the woman, police said.
