Ridgefield Park Man Sexually Assaulted Child While Providing Drugs: Prosecutor

A Ridgefield Park man sexually assaulted a minor and provided drugs and alcohol, Bergen County prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Ridgefield Park man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child on three occasions, including when the child was under 13, prosecutors said. Prosecutors also said the man gave the child drugs and alcohol.

Ronal P. Vasquez, 33, of Ridgefield Park was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Dec. 29, the Garfield Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of sexual assault that had occurred in the past.

An investigation determined that Vasquez sexually assaulted a child between the ages of 13 and 16 in Garfield on one occasion, while giving the child marijuana and alcohol, prosecutors said.

"The investigation further revealed that Vasquez had previously sexually assaulted the child on two occasions, when the child was under the age of 13, at locations in Lodi, NJ and Passaic," prosecutors said.

Vaszquez was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and a charge of second-degree sexual assault, as well as three counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, prosecutors said.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court, prosecutors said.
