School Solar Update Planned This Week

Progress report set for Wednesday's school board meeting.

The Teaneck school district’s architect will offer an update Wednesday on the progress of a project to install ground-mounted solar panel canopies at district buildings.

A Board of Education architect working on the project estimated the district would save $1 million over 15 years in energy costs. School officials broke ground on the project in June. The school board has approved installing the panels at six of eight district building.

Work was initially expected to be completed in September, according to a June press release.

“Through a Power Purchase Agreement with Hudson Energy there will be no cost to taxpayers for this project,” the release said.

The update on the work will be given at the 8 p.m. school board public meeting at Teaneck High School.
