Teaneck Movie Theater Aims To Open by October

New owner working to modernize Teaneck's lone cinema

Renovations at Teaneck’s shuttered movie theater are ongoing and the cinema could open by October, according to a post on the theater’s Facebook page.

The owner of the new Teaneck Cinemas, Matthew Latten, is aiming to open in mid-September, with a target opening set by Oct. 1, the post said. Latten told Patch in May that he initially hoped to open in July or August, but faced some paperwork delays.

Latten signed a lease in April for Teaneck’s only movie theater, formerly called Cedar Lane Cinemas. A series of major upgrades are planned at the theater, including new seats, a new digital color marquee, party space and a digital movie projection system.

The new Teaneck Cinemas plans to play first-run movies, Latten has said.

Former theater owner Majestic Star Entertainment shut down the movie house late last year, citing the cost of upgrading to the new industry standard digital movie system.
