Teaneck Peace Vigil Collecting Supplies for Military Families
Group calls for end to veterans affairs agency backlog
The following is a letter to the editor:
Remember during the early years of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars there were yellow ribbons saying, “Support the Troops! Support the Troops?” Then, why is the Teaneck Peace Vigil having a food drive to help veterans and military families?
Tragically, many of our veterans are homeless. Many of our veterans cannot find jobs. Even many members of our National Guard do not have jobs waiting for them when they come home. More than 1 million veterans are waiting over 1 year to have their disability benefits approved by the VA (Veterans Administration). This is a disgrace. We ask the public to call members of Congress. Tell them to END THE VA BACKLOG. Call 877-429-0678.
