Local and state elected officials recently gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Al's Charcoal Pit, the new diner launched on Cedar Lane by an ex-Louie's Charcoal Pit waiter. Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Teaneck Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin were on hand to cut the ribbon with ex-Louie's staffer K. M. S. Alom. A crowd of Al's fans from around the area also gathered at the new eatery at Cedar Lane and Elm Avenue.  The diner-style restaurant promises to offer a menu similar to longtime Teaneck staple Louie's Charcoal Pit, which closed late last year.
