Teen Worker Critically Injured In Fall From Teaneck Roof: PD

The 18-year-old was found unresponsive but breathing, and taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

TEANECK, NJ — An 18-year-old roof worker is hospitalized in critical condition after falling off the top of a house, according to authorities.

The New York teen had accidentally fallen at about 6:45 p.m. Monday, while he was performing roofing repair on a Maple Street house in Teaneck, police chief Andrew McGurr said.

He was found unresponsive but breathing, and was revealed to have suffered head trauma and other injuries. Immediate aid was rendered, and the Spring Valley teen was taken to a local hospital, McGurr said.

Due to the severity of injuries sustained, the Bergen County Sheriff's Department's Bureau of Criminal Identification responded to photograph and document the scene, the chief said.

The Teaneck Building Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were also notified, police said.
