Ocean County YMCA Hosts Wellness Celebration for Seniors on May 29

Area seniors are invited to a special day of wellness and social connections on May 29, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., at the Ocean County YMCA, located at 1088 W. Whitty Road, in Toms River.
The free event celebrates National Senior Health & Fitness Day® and marks Older Americans Month, honoring the contributions of older adults in communities across the country. In Ocean County, seniors 65 and older comprise nearly 23 percent of residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
“The Y is dedicated to keeping seniors engaged, active, and healthy,” said Laurie Goganzer, serving as chief executive officer of the Ocean County YMCA, as well as the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County. “We strive to make the Y a hub for social connections and wellness activities that contribute to overall well-being,” she added.

Seniors will enjoy a variety of aqua and fitness classes, health screenings by the Ocean County Health Department, and information resources from Ocean County Senior Services. A healthy lunch will be provided by Fulfill and all seniors will receive a one-week pass to the Y.
