JERSEY SHORE, NJ — The summer solstice arrived on June 20, and the first summer weekend in New Jersey is going to be incredibly hot - making it a perfect time to hit up the beach.
Thankfully, by the shore it's always cooler, and a dip in the ocean is a great way to beat the heat. So expect your beach of choice to be packed this weekend, as students are mostly out of school now and summer vacation is getting into full swing.

JELLYFISH
From the state Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Jellyspotters
A variety of jellyfish have been showing up along the coast, so if wading is your preference, take heed. Dwarf lion's mane jellyfish and clinging jellyfish both have been seen.
Clinging jellyfish, which deliver a painful sting, have been collected in the Metedeconk River and a couple spots in northern Barnegat Bay, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection. The NJDEP maps monitoring for clinging jellyfish.
They also have been collected in North Wildwood.
Paul Bologna, the Montclair State professor and jellyfish expert, operates the New Jersey Jellyspotters Facebook group and provides updates of where they have been sampling and what they are seeing.
