Road Brining, Changes In Trash Pickup Ahead Of Storm In Toms River
Toms River is making preparations ahead of a snowstorm predicted to bring as much as 6 inches of snow to the area.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Garbage and recycling pickup will be one hour earlier on Friday morning as Toms River Township prepares for an oncoming winter storm that is anticipated to bring as much as 6 inches of snow to the area.
Township officials said residents whose garbage and recycling are due to be picked up Friday (Thursday's collection was delayed due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday) should make sure their cans are out by 5:30 a.m.
Snowfall is predicted to begin about 4 a.m., according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office. A winter storm warning has been issued for Ocean County.

Residents whose garbage normally is picked up on Friday will have it collected on Saturday, officials said.

The township also will begin brining and treating main roads that are the township's responsibility, officials said.
