Slippery or foggy conditions may have contributed to two separate fatal South Jersey crashes, one of which killed a teenager, police said.

In one of the crashes, a car veered off the side of a road and crashed into a trailer parked in front of a residence, killing the driver, police told nj.com.

Slippery conditions also likely contributed to a crash that killed a teenager in Ocean County on Friday, police said.

In the Ocean County incident, Austen Hunter, 19, of Jackson died in a car crash, police said. The lone passenger, Hasson Renouf, 23 of Jackson, was listed in stable condition.

The accident happened on Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m. when police officers from the Jackson and Manchester police departments responded to a 911 call for the report of a motor vehicle crash on South Hope Chapel Road.

The crash, which was originally reported to be in Manchester, was located near a bridge in the vicinity of the Pine Barrens Golf Club, police said.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the single-vehicle crash involving a 1997 Chrysler Sebring, police said.

The vehicle had gone off of the roadway and into the woods. An initial investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling northbound when it failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road, police said.

Speed and wet road conditions contributed to the crash, police said.

The vehicle struck several trees before coming to rest. The driver and passenger both had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said.

They were transported to Jersey Shore Regional Trauma Center where the driver of the vehicle, Hunter, succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Police Officer Kevin Chesney of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit and Officers Stephen Cilento, Joseph Pante and Sgt. Richard Bosley.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses to the incident have been asked to contact Officer Chesney at 732-928-1111.
