Which Road in Toms River Needs a Speed Bump?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

Toms River, N.J.- Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.
While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Toms River. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

- "Peter Avenue. Vehicles constantly speed up an down our street. We even had a pet run over and the person never stopped."
- "Roosevelt Avenue! Kids playing on the street, riding bikes etc. I think all streets at neighborhood that do not have stop signs on crossing street have to have speed bump to slow down crazy drivers."
- "Audubon!!! Cars fly down the block going 50-60+ with kids playing in neighborhood. I have had to flag down many motorists to remind them it's residential."
- Vaughn and Hazelwood! I grew up on that street and there were accidents all the time at that intersection. People speed all the time down those streets."
- "Hands down, Division Street. Can't seem to get it closed off from Hooper so maybe a speed bump would at least help stop the dozens of accidents that happen here on a regular basis."
- "Weston Drive off of Whitesville Rd in Weatherly. People fly down that road to cut through that development and pay no attention to the 30mph speed limit."
- "New Jersey Ave. Dangerous road in between Bell in Audubon. People fly by and the curve in the road makes a good blind spot. Had a few near misses backing out of my driveway."
- "Overlook Drive. It's a residential street with a traffic light to a major road at the end of it also has an entrance to Shop Rite. Too much speedy traffic."
- "Marshal Rd, between Adam's and Beachview. It's a drag strip, especially in the summer."
- "Yellowbank, by the duck pond"
