2 Injured In Crash, Whole Foods Temporarily Evacuated In Wall, Police Say

Wall Township's emergency services responded to two incidents on Wednesday, including a crash and smoke reported at a local Whole Foods.

WALL, NJ — It was a busy morning in Wall on Wednesday as the township’s emergency services responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash and smoke reported at a nearby Whole Foods, the police department said.

Shortly before 8 a.m., Wall Police, Wall Fire Company #1, and Wall Township EMS responded to a two-car crash at Allaire Road and New Belford Road, where one vehicle had overturned.

Once authorities arrived at the scene, police said one adult and one juvenile were brought to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Shortly after emergency services responded to the crash at Allaire Road, Wall Fire Company #1 said emergency crews were dispatched to a Whole Foods in West Belmar’s primary response area for a report of smoke.

Once firefighters arrived at the scene, authorities said the source of the smoke was identified as a faulty garage door motor.

The building was evacuated for about an hour while crews ensured it was safe to re-enter.

“Thank you to Spring Lake Heights and Avon Fire Departments for assisting with ladder trucks,” Wall Police said in an online post. “Both incidents caused temporary traffic delays. We appreciate your patience and cooperation this morning as we worked to keep the community safe.”
