“Monmouth County recognizes the importance of proactive surveillance, precision treatments, and constant monitoring to reduce the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses for residents,” said Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone.
According to Arnone, the county provides inspectors who will visit properties to identify standing water sources that support mosquito larvae.

“Most West Nile virus activity is reported in August and September,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Susan Kiley, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services.
“When people are outdoors, they should take precautions such as using repellents or wearing long-sleeve shirts and long pants to avoid mosquito bites," Kiley continued. "Residents can also reduce mosquitoes by dumping any containers holding water around their property.”
In addition to the spraying planned in Wall Township, Monmouth County will also be spraying for mosquitoes in Middletown due to evidence of West Nile Virus in the area.
A map of the areas to be treated and a fact sheet will be posted on the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division’s website under mosquito schedule and maps.
