UPDATE: Power Restored On Route 34 After Outage

UPDATE 12:47 p.m.: Power has been restored to most of those affected in an outage along Route 34 this morning, officials said.

Jersey Central Power & Light is reporting that fewer than five customers are without power in Wall, following an outage that knocked out power to scads of buisinesses on Route 34 from Hurleys Pond Road to Belmar Boulevard.

Several Wall Patch readers have reported the power is back on. The traffic lights at Airport Road and Hurleys Pond Road are functional and police have vacated the intersections with the state highway.

Several hundred Wall residents and business owners are without power this morning as JCP&L deals with scattered outages throughout its coverage area.

Virtually every business was in the dark along Route 34, from Belmar Boulevard to Allenwood Road, at 11:45 a.m.

Police are directing traffic at Route 34's intersections with Hurleys Pond and Airport roads after the outage knocked out traffic lights.

JCP&L reports 654 customers without power in Wall this morning. "Crews are working to restore power to all affected areas as quickly and safely as possible," its website states.

The utility is experiencing scattered but limited outages in towns throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties this morning, although Wall is the only municipality with more than a few customers left in the dark.
