Transit Van With 10 Kids Caught Fire On Parkway In Wall

State police confirm that a transit van with 10 juveniles, driver caught fire Monday on the Garden State Parkway in Wall.

WALL, NJ — A transit van carrying 10 children caught fire while on the Garden State Parkway in Wall, but there were no injuries, state police confirmed.

New Jersey State Troopers responded to the vehicle fire on Monday afternoon, Jan. 22, at 3:18 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway north at milepost 96.4 in Wall, police said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Ford Transit van caught on fire on the right shoulder of the road, according to Detective Jeffrey Lebron, Office of Public Information, New Jersey State Police.

He said the vehicle was occupied with 11 passengers, including one adult and 10 juveniles.

There were no injuries reported on scene, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities had no additional information.

But according to The Lakewood Scoop, the van was driving from Lakewood to Jackson via the Parkway; the driver got all the children off the van and another van took them to their destination. Area first responders were at the scene.
