According to a new study by SmartAsset, if you live in Somerset County you’re among some of the happiest residents in the nation.
Out of the 978 counties assessed in their research, the financial services company ranked Somerset County as the 20th happiest in the United States.

The study looked at counties within the United States that had a population of at least 50,000 and took into account factors such as marriage and divorce rate, life expectancy, exercise rate, bankruptcy rate, unemployment rate, and poverty rate.
“We ranked every county on these eight metrics, giving equal weight to each metric,” according to SmartAsset’s website. “We then averaged those rankings, and applied a score from 0-100 based on that average.”
