Worms May Be on the Menu Today in Watchung

Library programs offer "Gross Grub" and the life of worms.

Watch for the rain today, which will put an end to a pair of the clearest, coolest and most comfortable summer days we're likely to see for a while. By the time the skies clear again (which might not be until the weekend), the humidity will be higher.

But in the meantime, here's what to do in Green Brook and Watchung.

In the dog days of summer, look to the nearest library to offer lots of fun activities. Today, the Watchung Library is hosting two sessions of fun drama, as Youth Stages offers kids four- to six-years-old (at 10 a.m.) and seven- to nine-years-old (at 11 a.m.) get to participate in interactive programs using the books "Yucky Worms" (for the younger crowd) and "Diary of a Worm."

Meanwhile, the Warren library is hosting "Gross Grub," a program for kids between nine- and 12-years-old. They'll will get a kick out of the 4 p.m. program, where actual edible —but disgusting looking— food will be prepared and sampled (for those brave enough). The old saw about half of our enjoyment of food is in the appearance may be put to a test.
