2 Free, Outdoor Concerts In Wayne This Week: Here's Where, When

The Wayne Public Library and the township will each host free concerts over the next few days.

WAYNE, NJ — Looking to get out of the house after the rain? Two free, outdoor concerts will take place in Wayne this week.

First, The Kootz will take the stage as part of the township's Summer Concert Series. The show will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wayne Municipal Complex.

The Wayne Public Library will host the second show of the week, with The OCD Band (One Chick with Dudes) set to perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Laurelwood Arboretum.

7 p.m. Wednesday, Wayne Municipal Complex (475 Valley Rd.)

This is the third installment of this year's Summer Concert Series, which will run through Aug. 24. The Kootz hail from throughout New Jersey and have been around for more than 20 years.

Describing themselves as "Rock 'n Roll with FIBER," The Kootz have a passion for classic rock, pop, soul and blues.

Limited seating is available. The township says to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Concertgoers can also help local families in need by bringing a dry-goods donation to the show, which will support the Wayne Interfaith Network's food pantry.

The OCD Band

7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Laurelwood Arboretum (725 Pine Lake Dr.), rain date July 21

The show will be the second installment of the Summer Concert Series at Laurelwood Arboretum. Here's the description of the band:

"Performing popular, contemporary covers, rock the night away with band members Vinnie DeMasi (guitar and vocals), a fixture in the Manhattan musical community with a number of Broadway credits to his name, most notably Jersey Boys. Vinnie has also performed and/or worked with Jimmy Buffett, Herb Reid, and the Platters; Dave Faulkner (bass and vocals) has worked with a diverse array of musical projects and groups that included Norway, Downtown Trio, and Jaberwocky; Amy Goff (vocals & percussion) started her career in Europe, had a 7-year run with Meat Loaf and produced/engineered several critically acclaimed choral albums; Chuck Burgi (drums and percussion) first hit the national scene with the jazz-rock guitarist Al DiMelola in the late 70’s but is currently the drummer for Billy Joel He’s toured and/or recorded with legendary artists including Meat Loaf, Hall & Oates, and Boni Jovi."

All concerts take place near Laurel Pond. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. No food or alcoholic beverages are permitted.
