ALDI Sets Grand Opening Date For New Store In Wayne

WAYNE, NJ — It's no trick: Discount grocer ALDI is opening its new Wayne location on Halloween.

ALDI will host a grand opening at the Plaza Square Shopping Center on Thursday, Oct. 31, beginning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m.

The store will open directly after the ceremony, and the first 100 customers will receive a bag of ALDI goodies and a "Golden Ticket" that could be worth up to $100, according to the company website. The grocer will be giving out free shopping totes, as well.

From Oct. 31 through Nov. 3, shoppers can also enter for a chance to win a $500 gift card by scanning a QR code on signage inside the store. ALDI is also donating $1,000 to a local Feeding America affiliate, the company said.

Customers can get a sneak peek of the new store on Oct. 30 as well, and shop for their favorite ALDI items before the grand-opening rush. Store hours have not been posted yet; the nearby location in Totowa is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Plaza Square Shopping Center is located at 625 Hamburg Turnpike, and ALDI will be taking the place of the former ShopRite store. Other tenants there include T-Mobile, Wendy's, Together Nail & Spa, Hand and Stone Massage and Facial, Kessler Physical Therapy, Retro Fitness, and Music & Arts.

ALDI, a German grocery company which was founded nearly 60 years ago, arrived in the United States in 1976. It has become known for its low prices and private-label brands, including fresh produce, dairy products, meats, snacks, beverages, and organic items.

The store also carries personal care, pet, and household items as well as their "ALDI Finds" aisle, which has a rotating selection of seasonal items.
