Board Postpones Special Meeting To Discuss Next Wayne Schools Superintendent
The meeting was originally set for Wednesday night, as the Board of Education prepares to appoint a new superintendent.

WAYNE, NJ — A special meeting to discuss the appointment of the next Wayne Township Public Schools superintendent has been postponed, the school board announced.
The session, which was set for Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., will be rescheduled for a later date.
Board members had been interviewing candidates during the last two weekends in March and anticipate announcing their chosen candidate by the first week of May, as Patch reported previously.

Board President Donald Pavlak told Patch on Tuesday that board members are waiting on approval from the Passaic County Executive Superintendent to approve a contract for their chosen candidate before they would take a vote.
Board trustees later sent out a statement saying that the county's review process was still not complete, hence the cancellation.

"The Board of Education shares the community's anticipation in welcoming our new superintendent," the statement said. While we were prepared to move forward tonight, the necessary final step of the county review is still underway. We understand this delay may be frustrating, but it's crucial that we adhere to all required procedures. We are in close contact with the county and are eager to schedule a meeting as soon as we receive their final approval. Thank you for your continued patience and support."
Current superintendent Dr. Mark Toback, who arrived at the Wayne Township Public School District in 2014, announced his retirement back in November.
