Chilly Weekend Ahead In Wayne; Passaic County Issues Code Blue Alert
While winter doesn't officially start until Dec. 21, meteorological winter begins this Sunday, Dec. 1.
WAYNE, NJ — It will be dry and cold this weekend in Wayne and around North Jersey as people head out shopping and put up their decorations, forecasters say.
Passaic County has issued a Code Blue Alert overnight Friday through Monday, as temperatures will drop into the mid-20s and will be dangerous for people without shelter. This alert mobilizes local officials and agencies to help make shelter arrangements for adults experiencing homelessness.

Warming centers in Clifton, Passaic, and Paterson will be open at the following times:
- Friday at 11 p.m. through Saturday at 10 a.m.
- Saturday at 7 p.m. through Sunday at 11 a.m.
- Sunday at 5 p.m. through Monday at 11 a.m.
- Monday at 5 p.m. through Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service calls for a chance of light snow across the region Wednesday night into Thursday, and said an even colder mass of air may be moving in by the end of next week.
Here is the forecast through Monday from the National Weather Service:
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. West wind 6 to 11 mph.
Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41.
Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
