Construction Starts Again At Major Wayne Interchange; Expect Closures

Work for the project is expected to continue through mid-May, and there will be some lane closures in both directions.

WAYNE, NJ — Drivers should prepare for more delays as construction continues on the Alps Road and Paterson Hamburg Turnpike interchange in Wayne, officials said.

Work began again on Friday, March 15 and is expected to end in mid-May. Temporary traffic patterns will include lane closures in both directions along Hamburg Turnpike.

A new traffic pattern began at the intersection in December, with a "jughandle" intersections in place and two new traffic lights. The project plan also includes improved drainage, new sidewalks, and widening of both roads.

The project began in spring 2022 and was expected to last about two years.
