Tornado Watch Extended In Wayne As Debby Bears Down On North Jersey
Wayne is poised to get rain and wind on Friday - though river gauge projections do not call for major flooding, officials said.

WAYNE, NJ — The remnants of Debby will impacting North Jersey on Friday, bringing potential for tornadoes, damaging winds, and flooding across the entire area, the National Weather Service said.
Currently, two alerts are in place for Wayne Township and Passaic County: a tornado watch until 10 p.m., and a wind advisory until 11 p.m. The tornado watch had originally expired at 2 p.m., but has been extended.
According to the National Weather Service office in New York, "there is a marginal to slight risk for severe weather for the area, with the primary threat being damaging winds with a localized tornado threat." Isolated wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are possible.

"There is the potential for isolated to scattered instances of flash flooding late this afternoon into tonight, along with urban and poor drainage flooding," said forecasters on Friday morning.
As of 2 p.m., FirstEnergy (PSE&G) and Jersey Central Power and Light do not report any major outages in Wayne Township.

Current river gauge projections do not call for local rivers and streams to flood, township officials said.
