Hamburg Turnpike Reopens, Power Restored After Wires Fall In Wayne

Part of Hamburg Turnpike was closed for several hours Wednesday, and several hundred people were without power.

WAYNE, NJ — Power has been restored to several hundred PSE&G customers in Wayne and traffic on Hamburg Turnpike is once again flowing normally after wires fell on Wednesday morning, officials said.

Wayne Police alerted residents that Hamburg Turnpike was closed in both directions between Black Oak Ridge Road and Colfax Road at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. About 400 customers were without power, but it has been restored as of 2 p.m.

Police did not immediately say what the cause of the downed wires was, or if there was a crash in the area.
