Former Paterson Resident Sentenced For Stealing Checks From USPS Mailboxes: Feds
Brando Mancebo, 24, and others broke into U.S. Postal Service collection boxes in Bergen, Hudson, and Morris counties, authorities said.
PATERSON, NJ – A former Paterson resident was sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in a bank fraud conspiracy, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said Wednesday.
Brando Mancebo, 24, previously pleaded guilty by videoconference before U.S. district Judge Kevin McNulty to an information charging him with possession of stolen mail and conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
Mancebo and others broke into U.S. Postal Service collection boxes in Bergen, Hudson, and Morris counties and steal mail, according to court documents.

They agreed to fraudulently deposit stolen checks into bank accounts and then withdrew funds from those accounts, authorities said.
In addition to the prison term, Mancebo was sentenced to five years of supervised release and ordered him to pay restitution of $106,374 and forfeiture of $2,025.
