WAYNE, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Crystal Olson who nominated Kimberly of Wayne. She said Kimberly is an enthusiastic learner and an "active participant" in anything she's able to do.

I am the School Counselor in her elementary school

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Kimberly is a terrific young lady, and she has stood out as a role model during her time as a student at Ryerson, specifically this year as she is in her final year of elementary school as a 5th grader. She is consistently kind, helpful, and respectful to her classmates and teachers alike. Kimmy is also enthusiastic about learning new things, & she is an active participant in whatever way she’s able to be in the moment. She is on our safety patrol where she is a peer helper to our younger population, and she is also involved in STARS - Students Teaching And Reaching Students - where she assists the Physical Education teacher in guiding activities during gym time. Kimmy is a great leader in our school community, and she exemplifies the fine qualities of what it means to be a ‘star student.’

Kimmy is consistently kind, helpful, and respectful to her classmates and teachers alike.
