High winds and heavy rain hit Wayne overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. See how much rain fell:

WAYNE, NJ — The Tuesday night storm soaked sections of Passaic County, and there is more in store for this coming weekend.

Here is a roundup of rainfall totals reported Wednesday morning around Passaic County, according to reports by the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, known as CoCoRaHS.

  • Wayne Twp: 3.86 inches
  • Pompton Lakes: 2.76 inches
  • Hawthorne: 3.76 inches
  • Little Falls Twp: 3.71 inches
  • Ringwood: 3.16 inches
  • Bloomingdale: 3.20 inches

While recovery is underway from the storm that affected our region last night, another storm is gearing up to affect our area Friday night through Saturday.

"Widespread flooding is occurring, and flooding will slow to recede through the week. Gusty winds will develop later today, and a Wind Advisory is underway for today. New rainfall Friday night through Saturday morning will exacerbate any flooding that would be ongoing, and new flooding is possible. Strong to potentially damaging winds will develop yet again Friday night," the National Weather Service said.

Several rivers experiencing moderate to major flooding, especially across northern New Jersey, will remain in flood stage through the end of the week.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the two most troublesome sections of the Passaic River were in the Pine Brook district of Montville in Morris County and the Little Falls area in Passaic County.

Both rivers are likely to rise above the major flood stage on Wednesday and Thursday and could remain there until Friday or Saturday, according to forecasters.

The Pompton River at Pompton Plains is currently at 20.38 feet, indicating it is at the major flood stage on Wednesday.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Wind chill values range between 25 and 35. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low of around 30. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 49. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Rain before 1 a.m., then rain and possibly a thunderstorm between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then rain after 4 a.m. Temperature rising to around 51 by 5 a.m. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 41 by 5 p.m. Breezy.
