Mall Vape Kiosk Shut Down In Wayne, Report Says
Though town council had revoked the shop's license on Nov. 6 for illegally selling flavored vape products, the report said it remained open.
WAYNE, NJ — After the township revoked the license of a kiosk selling vape products at Willowbrook Mall, the health department has officially shut it down, a report said.
Mint Vapes was still operating at the mall after town officials revoked the license on Nov. 6, according to a report on northjersey.com. It has now closed, the report said.
At the most recent township council meeting, health officer MaryAnn Orapello said inspections have been ongoing at Mint Vapes for some time, and the owner had received several warnings from the township. Orapello said the state treasurer's office is also involved.

"They've gone out on inspections with us to do their enforcement, as well," she said.
Township Attorney Daniel Lagana said that Orapello sent a letter to the owner on Oct. 9 detailing multiple violations at Mint Vapes, including that they were selling flavored vape products against state law.

In 2020, New Jersey became the first state in the nation to ban all flavored vape pens, e-cigarettes or other products. This was a move strongly pushed by Gov. Phil Murphy because he said flavored and sweet tobacco appeals too much to young people and teenagers, as well as children.
Mine Vapes has been cited four times since 2022 for selling these products and received several fines, Lagana said.
The owner, Harman Singh, was not present at a public hearing Nov. 6.
Council voted unanimously to revoke the retailer's license during that meeting and will pass another resolution Dec. 4 to memorialize their decision.
Orapello noted that though the sale of flavored nicotine products is banned in New Jersey, distributors are allowed to sell them to retailers in the state.
