Man Arrested After Wayne PD See Track Marks, Open Glassine Bags, Drug Paraphernalia During Traffic Stop

The 22-year-old was found to be in possession of 10 bags of heroin and a needle, which he voluntarily turned over to police.

A motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation turned into an arrest when Wayne Police saw “debris in the vehicle that resembled drug paraphernalia,” “open glassine bags,” and track marks on the driver’s arm.

Police initially stopped the vehicle on Hamburg Turnpike and Pompton Road at 7:20 p.m. Monday for a ”maintenance of lamps” violation, but noticed drug paraphernalia and open glassine bags commonly used for heroin inside the vehicle, according to Captain Laurence Martin.

The driver, Gregory D. Prommel, 22, of Wanaque, told police he was “heading back to West Milford from a unidentified friend’s house in Paterson even though he was headed toward Paterson on Pompton Road,” Captain Martin said.

Prommel then voluntarily surrendered a needle he had hidden in the car and admitted to having a bundle of heroin in his pants stamped “King of the Hill.”

Prommel was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of a needle without a prescription, and was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps and failure to inspect.
