Milling + Paving Scheduled At Major Wayne Intersection This Week, Next

Lane closures and detours will be in place as crews continue working on Hamburg Turnpike and Alps Road this week and next week.

WAYNE, NJ — Crews will be milling and paving at a busy Wayne intersection beginning Wednesday and lasting until at least next week, officials said.

Work is continuing at the intersection of Paterson Hamburg Turnpike and Alps Road in the township.

Milling operations are scheduled to begin Wednesday, April 10 during the day. Paving will be completed the week of April 15 during the day and night, officials said. This schedule is weather-permitting, and may change.

Lane closures and detours will be in place while crews are working on sections of the road. Drivers are asked to pay attention to all signage, temporary traffic pattern changes, and variable message boards.

Officials also remind travelers to be aware of construction workers and equipment, and drive carefully for the workers' safety.

A new traffic pattern began at the intersection in December, with a "jughandle" intersections in place and two new traffic lights. The project plan also includes improved drainage, new sidewalks, and widening of both roads.

A county project to reconstruct the intersection began in spring 2022 and is expected to be finished by May.
