After Months-Long Process, Wayne School Board Ready To Announce 'Significant Decision'
Board members thanked parents, teachers, staff, and students for their input during the search and selection process.

WAYNE, NJ — The Wayne Township Public Schools community will soon know who is to lead the district beginning next school year, after current Superintendent Dr. Mark Toback retires.
A special public meeting will be held Wednesday night to announce the new superintendent's appointment, Board President Don Pavlak said. It will be held at the Board of Education offices (50 Nellis Drive) at 7:30 p.m.
The board was hoping to make this announcement at a special session on April 9, but ended up postponing the meeting because the Passaic County Executive Superintendent was still reviewing the chosen candidate's contract.

This significant decision follows a comprehensive and collaborative search process conducted in partnership with the Comegno Education Institute, which provided professional consultation and guidance throughout our efforts to find a successor to Dr. Mark Toback, who will officially retire on August 1, 2025.
The Board has worked diligently and with great care to identify a leader who will continue to advance the academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement that define the Wayne Township Public Schools. We are confident that the selected candidate will bring visionary leadership and a strong commitment to our students, staff, and broader school community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all members of the Wayne school community, our dedicated teachers, staff, families, and students—who played an active role in the selection process. Your input and involvement have been invaluable and a testament to the strength and unity of our district.
“This has been one of the most important responsibilities we have undertaken as a Board," said Board of Education President Don Pavlak. "After months of careful deliberation and input from every corner of our community, we are proud of the process and the outcome. I believe our next superintendent will build upon the solid foundation established by Dr. Toback and continue to move our district forward."
We invite all members of the public to attend the Special Board Meeting on April 16 to witness the formal appointment and welcome the new Superintendent of Schools as we begin this important new chapter in the future of Wayne education.
