A new traffic pattern began at the intersection in December, after crews created "jughandle" or "Jersey left" intersections and two new traffic lights: One at the intersection of Hamburg Turnpike and the Preakness Shopping Center driveway, and another at the intersection of Alps Road and Grandview Avenue. Left turns are now prohibited from westbound Hamburg Turnpike onto southbound Alps Road.
Passaic County has been working on reconstructing this intersection since spring of 2022, and the $6.2 million project is expected to be finished by this May. The project plan also included improving drainage, adding new sidewalks, and widening both roads around the intersection.
